What is Thermal Insulation Blanket? Sep 21, 2015
What is Thermal Insulation Blanket? Thermal Insulation Blanket is a flexible covering which creates a protective barrier around hot surfaces in an industrial engine or exhaust system. The composite blankets are typically installed on components with running temperature exceed 200⁰C, which help reducing surface temp, mitigating the risk of fire or other heat related damage.   Thermal Insulation Blanket Structures: Thermal Insulation Blanket consists of three bonded layers: an inner barrier, an outer barrier, and the insulation layer in between. Depending on application, the materials used can include: Outer Layer (Cold side) Silicone coated fiberglass fabric, Teflon impregnated fabric. Middle Layer (Insulation) E-glass needled mat, Silica needled mat, Aerogel mat. Inner Layer (Hot side) Silica fabric, Stainless steel mesh, Stainless steel knitted mesh. High quality materials are vital for thermal insulation blankets, they must be able to withstand extreme temperatures, also need to be flexible, strong, durable, and resistant to oil, fuel, moisture, acids and alkalis.   Where is Thermal Insulation Blanket in? Thermal insulation blankets can be installed on any machinery where there is a need to reduce surface temperature. Like piping, valves, flanges, instrumentation, turbines, pumps, engine parts, exhaust components (i.e. silencers, catalysts, SCRs), storage tanks, compressors, incinerators, light or heavy vehicles, off-road mining equipment, or aerospace components.
